iphone apps
I'm finally joining the modern world and getting rid of my cell phone and getting a smartphone.
Looking into apps before Christmas and I'm wondering which apps are your favorites, can't do without apps?

my best suggestion to you is...
return it to the store and buy an android!
i have a magnifyer, an app that reads me my texts and emails, a flashlight...
only app i paid for to date is the one to view and control my security web cams no free version

I like both platforms.
However, Android has a lot less consistency in terms of quality, especially of hardware and O/S Feature Compatibility. People saying "Get an android" are highly misleading, as someone can get one of the $50 pieces of crap with a cheap carrier, and have a worse experience than just having a regular phone.
That said, I use both an iPhone and an HTC EVO (the original one, it's old now) and I haven't ever needed to buy an app to accomplish what I want on my phone. I've bought specialized apps for other things like flying a plane, but for day to day use, just about every app you can think of is free.

thanks for the responses but which phone I get isn't an issue as it's a gift and already wrapped and under the tree.
The app list is really what i'm after. I've been looking in the app store and it's a bit overwhelming with so many apps.

I have the flashlight & bar code scanner. A few apps from merchants such as newegg, qvc, etc. I have facebook, twitter, the weather channel, words with friends and angy birds. Angry birds is the only one I've ever paid for and it was 99 cents. Aside from that, I have a few others that I almost never use.
