Haunted house

Post by Twinkeltoes »

I think my house is turning into it's own Bermuda Triangle. My cell phone keeps having connection issues and dropped calls. Last night it kept chiming as it found a signal then lost a signal.

Now the past few days I've been having issues with my lap top's wireless connection. I got a new wireless router a few months back and have already had to call up the company a few times to get some address issues fixed with it. But now I'm losing connection to the network. When I rebooted this morning my wireless connection wouldn't activate, I had to go and enable it manually. Then again while playing I would watch my net stat go down like I'm going to LD and notice that I'm not connected to my network and have to connect quickly while playing. Any ideas?

I normally have my cell phone connected to my lap top to charge, and last nights connection issues with the phone happened while next to the lap top. I'm wondering if there is some virus, or cross signal issues going on. Just speculation since I have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to that kind of stuff.

My PC is etherconnected to it, and my lap top is wireless to it. I also have my dvd player and maybe the kid's Wii wireless to it but normally don't run them.

Check the wireless settings on your router and wireless devices and make sure your settings match.

For wireless mode, try to have it set for a single mode (i.e. only g or..) and not mixed if your devices support this. Set it to highest your network supports.

Try a different channel, you can select somewhere from 1 to 11. Select something your neighbors are not using, you can check this by looking for wireless connections on your laptop, it should show what channel it is on.

Maybe something is producing too much electrical noise in your house. I use to have wireless mice on all my computers, but could never use them more than a foot away from the receiver, I got rid of them all, back to good reliable wired mice. Interference from wireless devices or home phones could explain your network issues, but not the cell phone unless something is putting out on those frequencies.

Not sure, but there may be a problem with your line's outside. I moved to Orlando and got AT&T Uverse and after really really bad disconnect issues intermittently going down 15+ times a day and 3 service calls finally got a really good line guy that had to run new fiber from a half mile away by hand all the way to my house. Not a single problem since.
