I am having issues with my media center/WinTV HVR 950. I entered the guide and it asked to updated to the latest programming. Once completed it now shows only a small portion of the available channels.
It is sharing a cable line with a tv that gets al channels so nothing funny from the cable company. I have also updated drivers and windows and have also tried loading every combination of availble cable providers. Each time I get the same limited channels.
Any ideas?

I don't know anything about your particular set-up, but it sounds like you don't have it configured to match your cable subscription.

There's two steps.
You need to first make sure you choose the proper cable provider. This lets it know how/where to look up programming information.
Second, it does your standard channel detection. What happens if you tune to a channel you know is there, but does not show up in the guide? If it does not show up, there's a problem with your cable signal. Make sure you're settings are set to having cable, not an antenna, so that it can tune the proper frequencies. If it is showing up, then you just need to tell it to go detect what channels you have.
Disclaimer: I haven't done tech support for WMC in about 4 years, so I hope my info is still accurate.

Thanks for the help. I have it up and running now. Had to manually add HBO but all others are working great.
