older pc error

I have an older pc cannot find my xp disc anywhere. Tried installing svc pack 3 now i receive missing wininet.dll. tried running programs and receive another error when i go through task manager. Been a logn time is there a way to create a disc to reboot and install this file.

can't you request one thru the microsoft website?

This can be a very complicated issue to work out. Mostly because even if you get the dll file that is missing or corrupt and try to replace it, more than likely windows will find another file along the path that is missing or corrupt (it's really a viscious cycle that can be very annoying). If you are persistent about trying to fix it, best thing I can tell you is to go on the net on another pc and google the missing file (dlls are usually easy to find on the web), save it to a thumb drive and try to replace it on the old pc. If you have trouble with this, your best bet is to find a windows xp cd and try a repair or a reinstall (I would recommend the latter after a backup of wanted files).
