Bacon EXPLOSION!

BACON EXPLOSION!

So my house is hosting a cookout today and for my contribution I decided to put together and cook this mess. So I bought 3 lbs each of bacon and sausage last night and assembled it this morning. I also documented most of the process so far.

So here's the first step. As I say in the video it's the only thing that spending time at summer camp earning my basketry merit badge has ever been useful for.
(Video goes here)

Next step was separating the sausage from its casing, which was only slightly homoerotic.
(Video goes here)

Then the sausage had to be spread over the bacon weave, which had since had BBQ rub applied to it
(Video goes here)

Here's the sausage on top of the bacon weave.

Then we had to cook up the rest of the bacon, and of course eat some of it as we cooked it. Most of what was left was then placed on the sausage and drizzled with BBQ sauce and some more rub.
Image

The last thing for assembly was to just roll it up into one delicious 4.5 lb package of pork.

I'll post the finished project once it's cooked and being eaten later today. Well, I might if I actually survive eating it.

UPDATE: COMPLETED PRODUCT AND RESULTS!

Here's the Bacon Explosion right after it finished cooking. It is indeed a thing of beauty.

And the consequences of said bite:

Here's what was left of it after the BBQ ended. A lot more was eaten than I thought would be. I thought everyone would be scared away by the threat of heart attack(see above):

EDIT: Alright fixed it so it's all on here now. Youtube is being dumb about letting me upload the videos so if you want to see them, they're in the original, potentially NSFW, link here

You might be a little obsessed with Halloween if you've ever pulled over on the shoulder of a busy highway, risked life and limb crossing the busy highway on foot only to discover the bright bit of orange plastic you glimpsed out your car window was not a Halloween decoration but a stinkin' Tide laundry soap jug

Yeah sorry about that. I only use the social half of the site these days so I tend to forget that there are naked ladies on the other half. It's just facebook and a message board as far as I'm concerned. :P

It's all good, luckily I'm a network guy and they won't notice it this time anyways :)

Are you eating it ... (see first bite) or giving it a tongue lashing?

If it has bacon in it, it has to be good, and good for you.

Woman: "I like this breakfast bistro sandwich; this bacon is great."
Man: "Well, you know, in Italy, bacon is called pancetta."
Woman: "How do you know that?"
Man: "As a guy, I pretty much know everything there is to know about bacon. It's encoded into our DNA at birth."
Woman: "I have some things encoded in my DNA."
Man: "Oh yeah?"
Woman: "Like I'm able to sense when you're just full of it."

The people who posted the original recipe on BBQ addicts have it copyrighted so you have to talk to them if you want to sell it :(

Add something different, like jalapenos or something and then sell it!

I actually kind of just had my mouth open around a bite someone else took out of their slice. I didn't think to get a picture when I was eating my own and didn't think I could survive eating another so I just asked to borrow someone's for the pic. :P

Copyright is a much stronger, but much more restrictive protection than a patent. It's made to cover a "creative" work. It only protects the exact representation of the original art. You can write up your own recipe using different words but the same ingredients and it would not be a copyright violation.

A "process or method" patent if they had one would actually provide protection, but copyright is only a token gesture in this case. If they got a registered trademark for the name, they could prevent you from calling yours the same thing however.
