TS and microphone issue with computer

Well my video card in the old computer is pretty much belly up. I can get it to run a few minutes then I lose it.

So I got TS on new machine. This is an ACER computer dual core processor, 2gig mem, and jacks front and back. I know the micro phone works, at least it did with old computer.

Seems that this computer from hell has a program called something like Realtek that controls the audio aspects of the computer. And when you plug the microphone into the front jack, it knows that you plugged it in. It also seems to know you want it to be the microphone. So I click ok. However the microphone does not work. Even in the windows accessories programs that you would use to make a .wav file.

This computer is running in Vista, tho supposed to be running with XP compatibility, or something like that.
