In the last few days I have found some unplayable lag.
A few weeks ago I bought a dual core system... seems to be the worst mistake I ever made. I have nothing but problems. I am in no way computer literate, so this just compounds the problem.
It usually takes me quite awhile to even log into EQ. I will get the message *a timeout has occured* OR *there was an unknown problem trying to log into the server*... if I try enough times I will finally get into EQ, start playing. All is well, then BOOM... my lag bar thingy flies all the way up... sometimes up to like 9000ms.
It's almost like my computer takes too long to think about loading into EQ, then it misses the bus...
I play with all the old graphics, and no sound. To me on this system I should have no problems. I do play on normal dial up connection, but before I had this dual core system I still had zero lag at all.
I have zero problems with any other games, websites or programs, just EQ.
I did that dual core AMV download thing.... least I think I did it right... and to me it seems it made things even worse.
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it Vista? Make sure you are running in compatibility mode with XP service pack 2 if so.
