hum Eq has detected your client may have crashed

Or something very similar to that. Yup Laleldil has joined Blinia somewhere in the lands of client crashes. Not sure what is going on. For Blinia, I was going to fill her tribute to make some room in inventory and used 'return home'. That was the last I seen of her. I imagine I could use my old computer and find her, but with the new computer, every time I select her, I get the dreaded client crash detection and EQ closes.

Last night I managed to get Lal to the raid just in time to cast a few buffs and get a TL to bind. That went okay, but I took the portal to Undershore. Now Lal has been claimed by the NPC called Client Crashed. I did get to play him using the old computer, but it is hard to do with the keyboard on the lap and the monitor off in no where land.

I went to EQ page, and of course I can find no one to really talk to there, but there was a suggestion to rename the ini's and have them be recreated. Which of course really siphons. I do not see where that will do any good, since the only thing really pertinent that I can see is the UI(something)=default is already in the ini.

The post went on to describe how to make a new page. What the heck is a new page? It appears to be a windows thing, since you have to do something, then restart the computer so it does its thing. But has anyone ever had to do this? It also suggest to do a defrag. Heck 360 some odd gig on a new hard drive with just windows, EQ, and Teamspeak (which I may never use again), I simply do not see how my disc can be that fragmented already!

Originally I had thought the client crashed may have been caused in Blinia's situation because she is a gnome created in Crescent Reach instead of Aknon. Retrun home might have had a glitch in it. Maybe it was just EQ hated baby gnome necros that are intended to learn a little tinkering. Alas that apparently is not the case as Lal got ate by the same monster in Undershore.

I am also getting alot more disconnects and LDs on zoning than I have ever had before. Could this be because I still do not have my sbcyahoo correctly installed and so the connection has not been optimized? Yahoo suggests you do not diconnect from the server after first install for 10 days while the program sycronizes (spelling) to give the best connection. My old computer is working fine, other that the lag caused by fans, video card, and power supply not working so coolly. The monitor seems too dark and I often had to turn gamma up to 100% to see in places like the tunnel in Broodlands, not so much the tunnel in Lavastorm, just after I zone, it is almost pitch black running at the 52% I normally use. All the window boxs and texts are okay, just the game environment is way too dark. Just the few seconds It takes to adjust the gama to match what the zone's needs will be, usually always gets me way behind who ever I am traveling with. Therefore I believe the client crashes, Lds, and disconnects are principally a Vista situation.

Make sure all expansions are checkd in the EQ patcher and run a "Full File Check". If some zones work and some don't that could be your problem.

optionseditor.exe and set solution to minimun .... u can set it back to whatever ingame

You mean for me to run optioseditor.exe outside of game?

And what are you referring to as solution? Resolution?

in ur everquest folder is an exe file calld OptionsEditor.exe
run it and set the Resulution to minimun u can set it back to ur normaly used resolution

i've been having client crash problems a lot lately and i thought i had tried everything to fix it.
i read that you should run "Mem test 86" to check your ram and i did that and it showed no problems.
The other day i read that i should try running "Prime95". it's a program that searches for prime numbers. it also really stress tests your system.
there's a test called torture test in the program. i ran that and it found an error in my ram. after switching around my ram i narrowed it down to one dimm that was bad. after taking that dimm out i could run prime95 with no errors. i loaded eq and let it run all night long and it was still up and running in the morning (woot).
i also raided last night and didnt crash at all.
if you are having client crashes it's worth trying. the program is free, just google it

Dogg and I were having those problems with all of our old characters. None of our characters on the Zek server would log on and some we had not played in awhile on Bert server would crash when we would try to log in from the character screen. He called Sony and they told him to delete some file in the sony folder. You might want to ask him exactly what. All I can explain is that I deleted all the white looking folders that had gears on the right side with the file name for that character. That probably makes no sense but it worked and we can log on all of our character with no client crashes.
