well computer just randomly shut off aswell as half my house then power went back on. everything is fine but my computer... i turn it on then as soon as it gets to main screen, it freezes or soething and just the background shows, no icons nothing. using old pc atm and its garbage and lags hardcore, reason i got new one. Hopefully i can raid or w/e but dont count on it

I always assume it is the power supply in these sittutions until proven otherwise. Especialy when coupled with a power incidnt.

Howerver, it could be corrupt Windows files. Take your Windows disc and boot off it, and select the repair option. Do not do complete install yet.

In regards to power supply, if you get to the bios set up, most bios's have a screen showing voltages. See if they are close to what they should be. However, even if numbers are correct, your power supply could be bad still. They often give the correct voltage, but are unable to supply it at sufficient current.
