monitor help?

Post by Pathius »

I'm thinkin about getting an LCD monitor but i dont know much about them, been told I need to buy one with 8ms responce rime, thats about it

questions i have are:

what about contrasts ratio 500:1 700:1? what exactly does that mean? lol
pixel pitch?
brightness 400 cd/m2? what exactly does this mean is normal english?

and most importantly from people that have used them, are these a better option for eq than my huge bulky overheating crt monitor?

I'm looking at these because in the stores they seem to be a little easier on the eyes for reading text (and with my bad eyes thats a pluss) but for gaming?

I have this and I love it for EQ:

(Dell 24 inch widescreen if the link is broken)

It's fantastic but you need a pretty high-powered GPU to run EQ at full 1920x1200 resolution.

I run two seperate computers, the one I run Bid's account on has a gigantic old Trinitron monitor (it's my graphic design computer), and the second computer has an lcd monitor. I also have bad eyes, and I do ALL my web reading on the lcd. It gives me much less eye strain. It's also nicer to play EQ on...but I am too lazy to redo all of Bid's stuff onto this computer in order to play her on this one.

I have no idea what the numbers mean. This monitor came from Dell. I very much like it...if the Trinitron dies I think I'll go lcd on the other pc as well. I find it very nice also that it doesn't take up half my house, like the other monitor.

Good luck deciding!

I have this LCD from Dell. When I built my computer this was the highest rated one from MaximumPC magazine with their coveted kick ass award. I LOVE IT!!!!
