I never had a problem before but the last few raids it has become almost useless. I did find that if I restart Gina a few times it gets better but there must be a better answer.

Are all of the previous expansions unchecked?
I used to have lag issues about 5 minutes into a raid and it progressively got worse even with a new log. Restarting GINA would help but only for a few minutes. Unchecking all previous expansions fixed the issue. Zero lag ever since.
TDLR;
- Select only the GINA triggers you need
- Select only the EQ chat filters you need.
You log file should be ~ 5 to 10 MB a night
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GINA lag is almost always due to having it process too much "stuff".
"stuff" comes in two flavors.
- Each line of EQ text that you log (multiplied by)
- Each GINA trigger you have enabled.
Along with the DX11 patch they also changed the default chat channels to include a lot more "stuff".
Examples:
- Heals (Others) = Show
- Others damage others = Show
- Spell Damage = Show
Those three settings will make it so your log file gets all the spam from everyone in the raid, every heal , every hit, every nuke. You log file will to from ~20K lines a night to over 1000K lines a night.
The other issue is number of GINA triggers you have enabled.
Each expansion has ~ 9 raids. Each raid has between 5-10 triggers. Figure roughly 50-100 triggers each expansion. If you have all the triggers enabled that can easily be well over 1000 triggers.
1000+ triggers x 1000k lines is a lot of processing ...
