gaming keyboard yay or nay?

Post by Zargut »

Just wondering? I have always used the cheapest keyboards I can find, like $9.99. Becauuse eventually, inevitably something gets spilled on it and it stops working right. But I have wondered lately, since I upgraded the mouse, if I am missing anything by not using a "gaming" keyboard?

What do you guys use and why?

I use a corsair k70 and i love it. They keys feel much better than standard keyboards, its very easy to clean if anything gets spilled on it, it lights up pretty colors, and has extra buttons/features.

I've used the same LG G110 for long enough that the "G110" above the arrow buttons is mostly rubbed off. It's been at least 10 years and several spilled beers and it's still working great. The keys pop off easy enough to clean and the liquids have never gotten into the internal electronics.

If not for COVID I'd suggest going into a store and trying them all out. The type of switches the various keyboards use give each a subtle different feel.

I've used my current ps2 keyboard 10+yrs.

I tried a logitech "gaming" keyboard and quickly hated it. The keys feel like mush and the paint letters has worn off on about 1/3 of the keys after about a year of heavy use, after which time I was 'given' to the kids.

I have the Corsair K95 Platinum and LOVE it. I used to just get the 10 buck cheapo's and call it a day. With the the programable keyboard I am having lest wrist/hand pain from spam keys and it helped up my DPS a bit due to almost no latency. Not sure about other mechanical keyboards as this is my first.

The Corsair series rocks and yes the smash key capability is well worth the investment if you need it. Says you from arthritis!
