I can log in Renfoe , but not Wrenfoe or Renfo ( baz alt). Wrenfoe shows as being in Rivervale, and baz alt in Bazaar

Followed instructions from Bareldi here : http://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.h ... 6190823723 works now for the most part....

Attempted to log on Sangwen last night using this method and it didn't work on either computer. Filed a ticket, have yet to have a response. Hope to get this resolved by raid Saturday - else we will see you guys whenever!

Thanks to Nath, I have so far been able to get all three toons safely to PoK, and bound there, away from Lobby.

However, the problem still persists when attempting to zone into Lobby. The screen freezes, and I have to do a ctrl/alt/del to recover to desktop. When I try to log in a toon that "froze" zoning into either the Lobby or Baz, the character select screen hangs, and then I get the error message that "timed out", and "connection to server" error, and back to server select.

It has to be something client side, as Nath was able to log in Wrenfoe earlier, when he was in same situation (stuck in Rivervale, after a "return home"attempt from Lobby).

Any help is greatly appreciated

Yah, I had successfully logged in Tchoff and Sangwitch (who is on Sangwen's acct) using the method I posted above with the "patchme" solution. Sangwen was camped last in the guild lobby- cant log her in.

Went and tried moving Tchoff and Sangwitch through the lobby - and had the same effect as Ren.

I put a ticket in for it...suspect that this wont be resolved until Monday....

This is the exact same problem i had not long ago. I was ready to quit. Good luck getting anything out of SoE. Here is what I did. I did the validate assests from patcher advanced options while i did not have everquest running. This didnt fix it. I then did checks of my hard drives for errors. The check that can only be done on a reboot. Then i did that thing where you turn off everything except microsoft essentials and reboot. AND if you go search the forums for this problem it will tell you this
Hello residents of Norrath! We have been seeing an increased amount of contacts after today's update in relation to a crashing issue some players are currently encountering on the character select page. In order to determine the cause of this issue we would like players who are experiencing this issue to try a couple of things to fix the issue and possibly provide us with some additional information for review.

(So far we have been seeing this issue only with Windows XP users. If you are encountering this issue using a different operating system please let us know right away.)

The first thing we would like you to do is ensure that you currently have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed on your system.

For a 32 Bit OS: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=3387

For a 64 bit OS: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=18471

The next thing we would like you to do is go to your EverQuest directory and delete the following files:

defaults.ini
eqclient.ini
eqgame.exe
EQGfx_Dx8.dll
EQGraphicsDX9.dll
eqlsClient.ini
eqmain.dll

Once the files have been deleted, open the EverQuest launcher, log in, and click the Advanced Tools button (the small button with gears on it) in the lower left hand corner of the launcher. From there click Validate Game Assets > Validate and try accessing the game once the validation process has been completed.

If your crashing problem persists please open a support ticket with us ( at http://help.station.sony.com/app/answer ... a_id/28939 ) including:
Your dxdiag and msinfo files (instructions on how to make them are in my signature)
A copy of the debug.dmp file located in C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest\Logs (by default)
We will keep you posted on any new updates to this issue as we get more information. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
Once i did all that i dont seem to have anymore problems

Did all this and the problem went away.

Thanks man ! I will buy you a beer in Vegas this year.

I feel your pain. Like I said I was ready to throw in the towel on eq because nothing seemed to work and getting support from soe is like pulling teeth.

Same problem cropped up again for Renfoe.
This time, I cant log in this toon, but I can log in the other two toons on the same account. I keep getting a eqgame.exe has stopped working error message right after the Loading zone files stage on splash screen. I have done all the file deletions above a few times, and same issue/result.

Really need some help here, as my frustration level is pretty high.
Im not going through what I did initially, as the game is not worth the hassle caused by this situation.

This is the last two messages from Sony Tech support:

Greetings renfoe,

I'm sorry to hear you are still encountering issues with EverQuest. As we had discussed during the call, the diagnostic test is encountering 100% packet loss at the 6th hop but still continued the diagnostic test which is not normal. For testing purposes, please follow the instructions below to see if it may be a port related issue not opened or forwarded properly. If you have any more questions or concerns, please let me know.

Ok,

Here goes attempt. Sending requested file, have deleted all required files, and updated all video drivers etc.

Greetings renfoe,

It looks like the 2nd and 3rd command lines you had entered was "Ip.soe.com" which unfortunately is not the correct command. The correct address for those two command lines are LP.soe.com (L as in Larry, not I as in Indigo). Please update this ticket with the correctly generated netinfo.txt file with the appropriate commands. Please know the 3rd command (pathping) will take several minutes to complete. Please allow the appropriate time for it to complete.

I'd like to clarify if you had followed the instructions from the previous response with removing specific files from your EverQuest folder, and then validating the game files. Also for further troubleshooting and testing purposes, I noticed you are using out of date video card drivers for your ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series video card device. Please visit the official AMD website to download the most up to date and appropriate video card drivers for your video card and system to see if it helps. If you have any more questions or concerns, please let me know.

Microsoft just pushed out an update for Windows. My last issue appeared about 1-2 days afterwards. Coincidence?

Able to log in Renfoe now. I still don't consider the problem fixed, as it happened a second time in as many weeks.(

the icky socket screw up

Post by Memzin »

I had that socket messed up error message a few days ago so I summoned my tech guy who made short shrift of the problem ,,, but there was no explanation about how it all happened... just messed up letting me play EQ.. How annoying !!
There was no way I could have fixed the problem myself ,,, even reading the explanation of how you who fixed it yourself did... but HOW did it happen ?? I don't want to have to deal with it again.. Could it have been avoided? I just hope my sockets are all happy now and remain that way !
