Everquest and Windows 8

I have not been playing since March because I could not get Everquest to run on Windows 8 Beta or RC. I use the Steam install version and I could not get to a server from the launcher.

What I realized a short while ago was that the launcher has not been updated in the Steam version.

If you install Everquest from it's website IT WILL WORK WITH WINDOWS 8!

The trick is this for the other Steam users like me:

1. Install Everquest from the website,
2. Install Steam's version if you purchased it from there like me,
3. Navigate to the Everquest folder of the SOE installation (I already uninstalled it so I forget exactly where)
4. Copy launcher.exe and launcher.dll from the SOE installation
5. Paste it to your Steam installation (default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\everquest)
6. It should never be overwritten again by the verification process so you should be fine!
7. INC you to Bertox!
8. Feel free to uninstall Everquest from Add/Remove Programs since you only need the Steam install with the patched patching patcher. /shakesfist SOE
