an old knight's tale

Post by straman »

My pally was born the fall of '99, named Siredward. around lvl 21 a gm stopped me in qeynos hills and said my name violated the naming policy and told me to choose another. at the time, i was too busy with this new world i was brought into and could not come up with a name on the spot. the gm altered my name from a list that verant (not soe) gave him for such a circumstance. he said that i would be listed as Straman until i decided on another name and could petition for another. it was a variant on Stray man. i was just some Stray man he encountered. i never changed my name and in time, i BECAME Straman.

through many adventures and misadventures, my self and my inseperable cohort, hanamorf, became somewhat famous with things such as the skyshrine incident and our years of doinng ludricous and often funny things. ffrom 99 to 04, he and i explored all that eq had to offer. the dragons we killed and the gods we dared to oppose learned our names and would often call us by name during the heat of battle along with a little help ffrom /taunt of course.

decemmber of 04, Lord Protector Sir Straman Vandalheart retired outside of qeynos and relocated to the realm of heroes....

two days ago, the gods sennt their messengers, /unarchive and /unzip to the after life. they reached through the ether of compressed files and pulled me from my eternal slumber. i am now alive once again in norrath. i do not know the will of the gods nor do i know my destiny but i am here all the same.

the policy of ES all those years ago, was /guildremove if your char was absent X amount of time and raids. when i logged in, i fully expected to be guildless and even nude with everything gone except for a smile.
i was not expecting guild chat to come up and my toon left with everything even te raid buffs from 7 yrs ago.

I am Eternal Sovereign....
I am back....
and i totally suck at being a pally now :/

my gear is/was uber for when pop came out. at this point in time, i am not an asset to this guild and on some lvl, i am actually a liability for grouping. however, it was said in guildchat last night that once eternal sovereign, always eternal sovereign.

i need time to relearn eq and being a pally. at one time, i was so good at being what i was, that i was preferred main assist in on raids in the velious expansion with a former guild. i was SA on alot of raids with ES but Grakdrak was the true star SA more often.
Grak is the only one left that i remember, others like judagirl and especially hanamorf will be sorely missed.

many things were going on the last time i was in EQ. i am a truck driver and own my own small business. i am remarried and kids are all gone now with lives of thier own. i live on the road for a month or two at a time and often have extra time. i have an andriod and 4g with 10 gb month download and a comp in my truck.
i am back and will take time to learn anew this strange new world. you will see me in /guildchat but for now i will mostly be a ghost in ES until i become more confident with my char once more. i suspect it wont take long.

/Hail and well met to my fellow ES guildmates. you will soon learn the name Straman ;)

Nice.. welcome back. I think you will find a few names still around that you recognize.

The game has undergone many many changes, but ES has endured. As to where you can "molo" (soloing with a merc), I don't have much advice as I don't do that. Hopefully others will speak up with appropriate advice. =)

I never realy knew you, but I DO recognize your name. I was not in ES in PoP, spent most of that time raiding with Crystal dawn, but then soon found ES as home, and can say welcome back fellow paladin!

Welcome Back Straman. Check out the NPC outside guild lobby in POK that offers hotzone tasks. The zones around your level will be your best bet more than likely. You will get good exp and a piece of gear reward for each quest. This will be where you will probably see the most group activity as well.

Welcome back Straman! It was indeed long ago and it appears to be a pally trait to exagerate ones deeds but you were always solid and its good to see more of the old time Sovereign back =)

A Paladin never exagerates! If we want your woman, we'll take her! However, if she's with a ranger ... well needless to say we don't want her :P

Where to begin sir ? Why would a woman want a man who has to hide his ugly face behind a steel plate? And Furthmore I'm certain my woman could best you in fair combat let alone myself. As to your preferences well I'm open minded so O shall refrain from comment.
Good day to you sir - and your unicorn too :P
