Patcher Error
Have any of you been getting this when trying to use the patcher? I got it initially when the patcher changed several weeks back, but not since then. The patcher would load up a splash type screen with eq news along the right side and a play button on the bottom right. Now all of a sudden, I'm getting this again:
weird patcher..

well.. who knows when I'll get to play again. I cannot even get on bypassing the patcher (possibly due to there being a patch today). I can get to server select, but I get disconnected after I click Play Everquest.
If I try to run the patcher, I get the problem I first posted above. I've posted on the EQ Support forums, but naturally, no response yet. I'm as close to cancelling my accounts out of disgust with SOE as I've ever been.

I'm not sure what's going on with that patcher. That's weird.
The free to play introduced a new launcher. Well, kind of new. There's also the station launcher.
If worse comes to worse do this.
Copy your EQ directory somewhere outside of program files if it isn't already. (IE. C:\Games\EverQuest\)
Download the eq free to play thinger from here: http://launch.soe.com/installer/EQ_setup.exe
Run that, install it to the folder your copied EQ directory is.
Run it, let it patch that directory.
???
Profit?

EQ has always been installed outside of Program Files on this computer (Windows 7).
Station Launcher doesn't work for me anymore. Stopped working with the launch of F2P. It kept wanting to re-install like I was a new / trial customer.
I've tried starting that installer you linked. It appears to be doing a fresh install of all files. Maybe that is what it is supposed to do. /shrug At any rate, it was slowing down my computer (web browsing, etc.) and was annoying so I cancelled out of it. I'll start that again before I head to bed tonight and see what tomorrow brings.
I tried using the repair option available from that download with no success. I still get that funky looking patcher shown above.
Looks like it's going to be a movie night... action or chick flick.. hmm.. decisions decisions..

What you can do is install the EQ_Setup.exe which is the new EQ thing to it's own folder if you want, but don't run the whole patch. CAncel out of it once it'st rying to patch. Then copy your existing EQ files in to that folder. Then run the patch again. That should fix it up.
Or, just let it run and go take a nap. Took me maybe 2.5 hours to download all of EQ on a test computer at my place. Internet speeds may vary~

ok hate to ask a stupid question but...
did you contact tech support? I have found time and time again they are really good about solving issues
the only time i have ever gotten the message above is when my internet was being iffy

Ok - error now corrected.
1) I moved my whole install from C: Games folder to the C:\users\Kristi\Games to insure it was behind a folder that had admin rights (even though I had already designated the program to run with admin access)
2) Deleted all of the launchpad files from within the existing everquest install, then ran the download from the link, manually directing it to where I have EQ installed.
It only downloaded the launchpad files (a matter of seconds) then allowed me to run it normally.
