I believe only the newer expansions are in the (EQ)/sounds folder. I'm not sure when they switched but it was after LoY at least. I think the older sounds are in (EQ)/snd1.pfs ... (EQ)/snd17.pfs . Alt-F4 doesn't work in EQ (maybe patcher or server select, I dunno, but not in game) There's no hotkey linked to quit afiak, and even if there was quit kicks to server select not desktop.
