I was getting the shell updating box to appear then it would close. Now I get nothing when I try to launch EQ. Can't keep trying all day so off to do more productive stuff!

Rap wants to look cool playing eq! For what its worth, I have a 15 dollar Logitech from walmart that suits me fine. It fits around the back of your neck as opposed to over your head.
