8.1 has much better support for the Windows 7 style UI (unlike 8.0).
It's slightly faster and more memory efficient than Win7.

In general, if you're not using the metro UI or metro apps, the difference is very small. I have Win8.1 on all of my PCs now but I never use the metro stuff.

I definitely recommend not putting EQ under C:\Program Files\ on any modern version of Windows due to the whole shadow store issue. Just move the whole EQ folder to C:\Games\EQ or something and run it from there. You won't need to re-install it as long as the launcher and EQ are in the same place. T...
